Parent Night at Derby
There will be an informational meeting for parents regarding your child's transition to Middle School next year. The meeting will take place this Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 pm at Derby Middle School in the cafeteria.

MATH

READING
This week, students will be working to improve their literary discussions with their reading partners. After reviewing a videotape of themselves during a discussion, they will evaluate how that discussion went and work to improve it each time.
Learning how to have an effective discussion about a book teaches your child good communication skills, aides in comprehension, and instills further appreciation of literature.
WRITING
This week students will complete a graphic organizer (which acts as their outline) to organize all of their information for their research reports. Once they have completed their organizer, they will then start their rough drafts. Please monitor your child's progress by referring to the dark pink calendar your child should have in his/her homework binder. If they seem like they are falling behind, they may have to complete some of the research at home. (Please do not allow them to get too far ahead, however.)
