READING
This week, students will have fun getting into character as we perform a reader's theater (reading a script) of a story that takes place during the American Revolution.  Reading in a reader's theater format allows children to have practice with reading fluency, and it can be fun too! :)

WRITING
This week, students will finish publishing their poems.  They will also be given an opportunity to share their research reports and poems with the rest of the class.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
Students have already shown their interest in the magnets and motors unit when we started it last week.  Ask your child what discoveries they've made or questions they have about magnets in particular.

This week's concepts will include:
*How a compass works.
*Electric currents can produce magnetism.
